My so-called Life

No one knows the mysteries of life or its ultimate meaning, but for those who are willing to believe in their dreams and in themselves, life is a precious gift in which anything is possible.

socsci2 class rocks!!!
As of the moment, my socsci 2 class rocks! i juz don't know if this will still be the case when midterms come. The discussions in class are superb...hehe plus we've got a really cool prof & to think he's the bassist of one of the well-known opm band here in Pnas- Sugarfree! oh well so much for that...back to the class stuff.
According to the syllabus, SOCSCI 2 is a survey course on the works of selected social, political, & economic thinkers from ancient Greek to contemporary period...It is also the intention of the course to cultivate the student's appreciation for the great intellectual and philosophical traditions and to develop a critical view towards these ideas. Furthermore, the course hopes to enable the student relate these philosophical ideas to the present state of society. OH yeah! that's why it is so much fun having this class at D' PRESENT STATE of D' PHILS. We've just finished tackling 'bout Plato's The Republic and i kept on wondering what would it be like having here in the Phils Plato's ideal state & the idea of the philosopher-king as a ruler?Although, he admitted that it is difficult to attain such a society, but it is not impossible.Anyway, after Plato here comes one of Plato's famous student: Aristotle. According to our discussion this afternoon,if Plato's question was: what is the BEST political system? Aristotle on the other hand, would be: what is the PROBABLE or POSSIBLE best political system? for Aristotle, the most ideal state just like Plato is through Kingship or Monarchy, while the most practical one is "Polity" or in other words "Constitutional Democracy" where we find a large middle class ruling for the benefit of the entire community. Democracy, as in "direct democracy" or mobocracy is PERVERTED, accdg. to Aristotle because it is the rule of the poor for the poor and this would lead to a lot of irrational actions. It's amazing how these philosophers thought of these kind of ideas a long long time ago and how at the present we could still relate to it,diba?
So change topic muna, but still within the bounds of my socsci2 class (this is a socsci 2 entry..hehe), before we started our formal class discussion there were a group of students who asked permission to do a RTR (stands for room-to-room, w/c is a general term used when they'll be making announcements & the like in classrooms) and those students are from an org, if i'm not mistaken LFS (not sure ha!) and they were encouraging the students to join the mass rally tomorrow at Ayala and i guess you know what that's for. After they left, Sir Jal said that it is good to be a part of these kind of events but if it is not your 'thing' (the rallies), you could still be a part of it, just by voicing out your opinions in editorials of newspapers, e-mailing, or in this case by blogging. Honestly, i'm kinda excited on the turning of events that would happen...gosh showbiz na showbiz dating ng politika dito sa Pnas, noh? haaayyy...
Let me end this post with a paraphrased statement from Sir Jal and one the LFS studz: If Gloria resigns, there's always the question of who'll be the next pres? But it is not about the WHO but the WHAT!
